Julie Liberman is the founder and owner of Speech TX. Julie is a licensed Speech-language pathologist, practicing in the state of Texas for over 15 years. A graduate of Indiana University (BA ’98) and The University of Texas at Austin (MA ’00), Julie worked for Texas public school districts in Austin, Round Rock, and Plano for five years before opening her private practice, Speech TX.
Julie specializes in working with children with autism. She has attended several professional workshops in the areas of autism and augmentative communication, and therefore utilizes an eclectic approach to serving her students, including aspects from a variety of therapeutic frameworks. In addition to individuals with autism, she has experienced success working with children with a wide range of speech and language difficulties, including mental retardation, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, hearing and visual impairments, and auditory processing disorders. Julie also frequently lectures to local organizations, educators, and parent groups on autism and how it relates to pragmatic language development and social skills abilities.
Julie is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Speech and Hearing Association and the National Autism Association and serves on the Special Needs Partnership Leadership team, an integral part of Jewish Family Service. Julie also serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Jewish Family Service and is an Advisory Board Member of the National Autism Association's North Texas Chapter.
In April 2009, Julie was awarded the "Angel Award" by the Autism Society of Collin County for making a difference for families and children in her local community. In 2012, Julie was named a "Mom-approved Speech Therapist" by Dallas Child Magazine.
